ESSENCE FRV PM VSD Screw Air Compressor: 7.5-75kW On-Demand Air

Air demand in a workshop is never constant. Consumption is low at the start of the morning shift, high at full load around midday, and drops again at night. A conventional fixed-speed air compressor runs at the same speed no matter how much air is used, and the surplus can only be blown off — that energy is simply wasted. The value of PM VSD is that it lets the machine "produce only what is used."

The ESSENCE FRV series PM VSD screw air compressor is built around exactly this logic. It covers 7.5-75 kW, with air delivery of 0.25-13.8 m³/min and working pressure of 0.7-1.25 MPa. It uses PM VSD start and coaxial direct drive, covering the air demand of everything from mid-sized workshops to larger production lines.

PM VSD: From Load/Unload to On-Demand Supply

A fixed-speed machine regulates by load/unload: it unloads once pressure is reached and loads again when pressure falls. With this method the motor runs at full speed throughout, and the energy consumed while unloaded produces no useful air.

FRV uses PM VSD start, and motor speed varies continuously with air demand:

  • Lower speed when demand drops: avoids the energy waste of no-load running;
  • Higher speed when demand rises: replenishes air promptly and holds line pressure;
  • Steadier pressure: continuous regulation clearly reduces pressure fluctuation, which helps downstream equipment run steadily;
  • Soft start: lower starting current means a gentler impact on the power grid and the machinery.

The more pronounced the demand fluctuation, the more the benefit of VSD regulation stands out — especially for workshops on one or two shifts, or with frequent product changeovers. One caveat: if a VSD model runs at very low load for long periods, attention should still be paid to the heat dissipation and lubrication of the airend and motor, with maintenance carried out as the manual requires, so the VSD advantage can be sustained over the long term.

A Wide Pressure Range: The Value of 0.7-1.25 MPa

FRV covers pressures from 0.7 MPa to 1.25 MPa, with the same model delivering different air volumes at four pressure ratings. Taking FRV22A as an example, air delivery reaches 3.80 m³/min at 0.7 MPa and 3.00 m³/min at 1.25 MPa.

A wider pressure range means greater adaptability: ordinary pneumatic equipment uses 0.7-0.8 MPa, while processes such as laser cutting, bottle blowing, and high-pressure testing need higher pressures. In selection, first determine the actual working pressure, then match air delivery at that pressure — pressure and air delivery trade off against each other, so it is not advisable to simply take the maximum value.

Coaxial Direct Drive and Aftercooler

The specifications list the drive as coaxial direct drive. The motor connects directly to the airend, reducing intermediate transmission links and raising drive efficiency, while also doing away with day-to-day maintenance such as belt aging, tensioning, and replacement.

The aftercooler outlet temperature is held at ≤ ambient + 15°C, an indicator that bears on the load of downstream refrigerated dryers and filters: the better the discharge temperature is controlled, the lighter the burden on treatment equipment, and the lower the energy consumption and failure rate across the whole air system.

Voltage/frequency is 380V, 50/60Hz, matching 380V industrial power supply standards and accommodating both 50Hz and 60Hz.

Model Coverage

The FRV series covers nine power tiers, from FRV08A to FRV75A, running continuously from 7.5 kW to 75 kW, with air delivery rising with power and air outlets from G1 to G2. Air delivery for each model at the four pressure ratings of 0.7, 0.8, 1.0, and 1.25 MPa can be found in the full specification table at the bottom of the page.

Who It Suits

  • Manufacturers with pronounced demand fluctuation: the benefit of VSD regulation is proportional to the size of the swing;
  • Processes needing higher pressure: the 1.25 MPa ceiling covers processes such as laser cutting and bottle blowing;
  • Small plants looking to cut maintenance workload: coaxial direct drive reduces day-to-day maintenance items;
  • Businesses that may expand production: wide power coverage makes later matching easier.

Selection Advice

  1. Determine the usual working pressure first: set the pressure rating by the most demanding equipment on the air side, rather than simply aiming high;
  2. Match air delivery at that pressure: avoid taking the maximum air delivery while ignoring the pressure condition it corresponds to;
  3. Assess the scale of demand fluctuation: the larger the swing, the more obvious the economics of VSD; if demand is constant at full load year-round, weigh the initial investment against the return;
  4. Configure treatment to process requirements: oil-injected is only one part of air quality; drying and filtration still need to be specified as required.

Conclusion

The point of PM VSD is not an extra line on a specification sheet, but letting the equipment genuinely follow air demand. With 7.5-75 kW power coverage, a wide 0.7-1.25 MPa pressure range, and coaxial direct drive, the ESSENCE FRV series offers an on-demand air supply solution for workshops with pronounced fluctuation. As a brand under Fusheng Group, ESSENCE draws on the group's accumulated R&D and service systems, giving selection and follow-up service a firmer footing.
